Cerese Winter
Roia | Solicitor
I grew up in a small rural town in the Bay of Plenty. Ever since I was very young, I loved drama and acting, and was always involved in school plays and extra-curricular classes. My interest in drama and in people led me to pursue a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Psychology) at the University of Otago in Dunedin. Alongside my studies, I helped organise a fundraiser for Women’s Refuge, completed Army Reserve training, and adventured in the Southern Alps.
I completed my studies in 2023, and worked briefly at the University of Otago before taking time off to travel through Europe, Africa and Asia. My travels gave me the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life, and I developed an appreciation for how culture and language can influence our way of seeing the world.
I was admitted to the bar in the Christchurch High Court in December 2025 and began my career as a solicitor at Tiaki Family Law in March 2026. I believe that education is a privilege and am passionate about using my knowledge and skills to advocate for ordinary people in some of the most emotional and difficult times of their lives.
Outside of work, I still love adventuring in the bush and the mountains. Closer to home, I love coffee and a good book, going to a thrift shop, and exploring the city.
