Christine Poole-Alefaio
Kaiāwhina Matua | Executive Assistant
A large part of my career has centered around New Zealand's justice system. Early in my career, I worked at a large Wellington law firm before spending 12 years with the Ministry of Justice, where I gained invaluable insight into the workings of New Zealand's courts and justice system. During that time, I supported a number of senior leaders before moving into the role of Executive Assistant to a Head of Bench. Most recently, I was the Executive Assistant to the Mayor of Lower Hutt, further developing my experience supporting senior leaders while working closely with the community.
Throughout my career, I have developed a deep appreciation for the importance of fairness. I believe everyone deserves equal access to justice and to be treated with dignity, respect and compassion, regardless of their background. It is important to approach every individual without judgment, recognising that life experiences and challenges can shape the path they are on today. I'm passionate about being part of a team that helps people navigate difficult times with understanding, practical support and care.
Outside of work, my focus is my family. I love spending time with my husband and teenage daughter, whether we're pottering around the house, baking, heading off on a road trip, or enjoying a concert together. Those moments are what fill my cup.
